Jeven Da Silva

Your Voice, Real Action.

Learning should empower students, not leave them confused by unclear expectations, inconsistent feedback, or systems that don’t always work for every course.

I was born in South Africa, raised in Namibia, and moved to Scotland in 2018. Since then, I’ve experienced education through major disruption, from COVID pushing learning online to rebuilding my HNC Social Sciences after personal setbacks and long commutes, which showed me how important clear communication, fair assessments, and strong support really are.

As your current International Students’ Officer and class rep, I’ve heard the concerns students raise about their learning. Art students sometimes feel their creativity is restricted by rigid assessments. Social sciences students often deal with frequent assignments where feedback isn’t always clear or detailed enough to help them improve. Others struggle to understand SQA expectations or how  assessment decisions are made.

As Vice President of Learning and Teaching, my priority will be making sure students’ voices are heard clearly and consistently.

I will strengthen the class rep system so student concerns reach lecturers and senior staff who can actually act on them. I will also push for more transparency around assessments and SQA guidelines, helping students better understand what is expected and how to succeed.

Most importantly, I will be a strong advocate for students behind closed doors, ensuring your concerns are raised and taken seriously where decisions are made. Education is expensive, and I will work hard to ensure you receive the support you deserve.

Vote Jeven for Vice President of Learning & Teaching.
