Hola! I'm Nicolas, the Student President...
I have recently completed my course in HND Digital Media. For my Graded Unit, I created an environmental app called ‘Green Act’, and I was delighted to achieve an A for this. This made me feel enormously proud!
I am a very sociable person, who loves meeting with friends, going for walks, discussing different topics and just generally having fun. I am also a massive fan of RuPaul Drag Race, and I’ve promised myself that I will drag up one day and enjoy a drag queen fantasy experience! I love this TV show because not only is it hilarious, but it is a great place to learn empathy, compassion, and kindness.
One of my biggest passions is to discover new and better ways to become more sustainable. One of my goals for this academic year is to inspire the College with new ideas to become eco-friendlier. I also want to help students emotionally process the concept of climate change (fear, guilt, anger, hopelessness) and encourage them to be more sustainable and promote positive action.
I am also aware that the Covid-19 Pandemic has been a challenging time for students at City of Glasgow College. I want to ensure that every student feels supported and that they are being listened to. I will ensure I do everything I can to enable students to have the best learning experience during this time. Due to the Pandemic, I will adapt my environmental manifesto to reflect these circumstances.
Although I have only been in my role for a short time, I have realised that I am lucky to working with such a dynamic team who are able to support me in supporting all students at the College.
Any issues that students may face here whilst they are studying, anything that I can do to improve your learner experience I will. I’m also keen to hear your thoughts so please do drop me an email.
