Hiya! I'm Alex , your Vice President for Diversity and Wellbeing...
I am 19 and currently a second year student here at City studying Social Sciences.
I work in the Students' Association to help promote positive student wellbeing and ensure our college celebrates diversity. As I am a student, I know how much hard work and commitment it takes to gain a college qualification - that's why I'm dedicated to ensuring that not only your learning and teaching is top quality quality but that your mental and physical health is the best it can be during your time at City of Glasgow College.
Outside of college, one of my passions is music. I've been involved with music from a young age with family members playing all kinds of instruments. Due to this I picked up violin and played in some orchestras during my time at school. As well as this I taught myself to play ukulele, guitar and dulcimer. I'm also really passionate about liberation groups and have always been keen to provide representation to under-represented groups within society. I'm involved with the LGBTQ+ society within the college so if any students are interested in getting involved with promoting LGBTQ+ rights then let me know!
This year I'll be focusing on a variety of exciting projects including developing a Student Mental Health Agreement with the aim of tackling Mental Health in our campuses. As well as this, I will be involved in facilitating campaigns and events to improve the overall wellbeing of our students with the aim of winning the Healthy Body, Healthy Mind Award.
