On Wednesday 27th November, we lauched our first ever Social Media Blackout. After the success of the first one, we'll be doing our next blackout on Wednesday 15th January between 12pm and 2pm!
Between these hours we’ll be asking you to step away from your smartphone, encouraging you to have less screen time and more ‘me’ time.
City of Glasgow College, CitySA, Student Advisors, Wellbeing and COGC Libraries social media pages will all be taking part in the blackout. Look out for the blackout message on the screens around both campuses during these hours.
We want to encourage as many students and staff members to participate in the blackout between 12pm – 2pm.
Join the movement by following these steps:

While Social Media is an amazing tool for connecting you to anyone at any time, too much scrolling, tweeting, commenting and liking has been found to have an impact on mental health.
‘Bauer Insiders’ conducted a survey in October 2019 examining the link between mental health and social media usage. They found that 72% agree it’s important to have a break from social media every once in a while.
Please fill in our quick one minute survey to let us know about your current social media usage.
