Glasgow's Golden Generation

Glasgow's Golden Generation logo

To volunteer with Glasgow’s Golden Generation you do not have to have any formal qualifications, nor do you need to have any previous volunteering experience. What you do need is an enthusiasm for the role and a willingness to make a difference to someone’s life. We offer many different opportunities, suited to any interests you may have!

Day Centres:

GGG runs three day care centres, all providing a friendly meeting place for older adults, offering a nutritional lunch and lots of activities. There are many volunteering opportunities in the day centres including as a volunteer cook, support assistant, driver or admin assistant.

Befriending:

Our befriending service matches socially isolated older adults with volunteers, who visit them regularly in their homes or get in touch via phone and video call. The befrienders aim to keep their clients active and help them get out of the house and more involved in their communities. GGG also supports volunteer led weekly clubs throughout Glasgow, all of which need volunteers to help keep them going.

Digital Inclusion:

We work with many older adults in Glasgow who are isolated and lonely. During the pandemic we supplied around 200 tablets to service users and have began running digital cafes. Our classes and one-to-one sessions help our service users to communicate with friends/family, stream content, play games, use Google, and more! We are looking for some ‘digital champions’ to volunteer their time to help our digital inclusion team, helping to get older adults online.
