Hi, I’m Bernie and I am nominating myself for the position of Vice President for Learning and Teaching at City of Glasgow college. 

I recently moved to Glasgow and joined the college to study Business and HR. 

I have spent the past 5 years travelling and teaching abroad.  

I believe I am well suited for the position as I have been in education for a long time both as a student and teacher, I understand the struggles students face and how this can impact upon their learning.  

My role teaching abroad means I have experience on the other side of education and know firsthand that everyone has different learning styles and needs and sometimes this is not recognised.  

I believe I could have a positive impact upon the teaching and learning at COGC and improve the students experience in the classroom. I intend to make sure the teaching at the college meets everybody’s needs. 

If I am elected, I plan to speak with students about what works well and what is lacking for them, what would you like to change?  

I aim to make sure that our lecturers are trained and able to adapt their teaching styles to suit students' needs and to ensure the necessary resources are available.  

I want to ensure students have a voice when it comes to how their courses are taught so that YOU get the maximum benefits from your time here and the hard work you put into your course.
