Knowing you're colourblind doesn't mean you can see the colours.
I am Nathaniel Reah, an accounting student who you know nothing about. So, give me a moment of your time to change that. Let's start with why I am campaigning for this position; I want to be a voice for those who can't speak up, those who are terrified to be themselves, and those who are constantly living in denial. Everything I’ve just said I have dealt with. Only speaking when necessary to avoid the “spotlight”, constantly trying to be “normal” because I didn’t want to be labelled as a freak, ignoring the signs which told me something was wrong, and telling myself that “everyone feels this way”. Nobody is immune to this way of thinking; therefore, I believe it is important that everybody has access to the support that they require. That’s why I became a candidate for this position, to help those who are in a similar mindset to which I was once in, afraid to be themselves because of how others may react. Hearing what students have to say about problems regarding equality & representation and what to do about them is my main goal, whilst also maintaining the standards that have already been put into place. Communication and acceptance are the first steps towards change, you can’t face something if you keep turning your back against it.
