As we approach the end of the year, we’d like to take a moment to say thank you to Class Reps, Faculty Reps and Academic Staff for continuing to work in partnership with the Students’ Association to improve the student experience.

Academic staff have been a great support in helping us promote the class rep role, and the inductions and meetings. They have also continued to show enthusiasm to work with students to find creative solutions, and we’re very grateful for their ongoing contributions. To date, 90% of classes have an elected Rep.

Our Class Reps have already carried out some amazing work this year, with 371 voluntary hours being recorded by the 74 Reps who completed our latest Check In. Our Check In feedback offered an overview of the amazing work our Reps have carried out. Highlights have included: HND Graphic Design Reps worked with their class and staff to improve the content of emails being sent out; and HND Business Management Reps linked in with course staff and leaders to support the movement of assessment deadlines.

The first round of Class Rep Meetings also took place at the beginning of December, where we found that the top three areas of concern for students were assessments, timetabling, and learning and teaching. In these spaces, Class Reps supported one another in agreeing solutions to challenges and organizing suitable approaches for feeding back ideas to faculty staff teams. Faculty Reps will also report on these feedback areas to Faculty Boards in the New Year alongside your Presidential Team.

If you haven’t been able to attend a Class Rep Training Session or Meeting, we’ll be holding more in the New Year. We’ve taken onboard feedback from students and staff, and will be making changes to our training sessions to accommodate students.

We’re really proud of how solution-focused our Class Reps are and the work they've put into making the student experience better for their classmates. We look forward to continuing to work in partnership next year after your well-deserved break.
