Getting involved

Finding the right volunteering opportunity can give you the chance to put the knowledge and skills from your course into practice, or to learn new skills additional to those from your course programme. As a volunteer you will also build memories and develop leadership and teamwork skills to apply to your future career and personal life.

Volunteering is also a great way to show future employers that you have experience in a working environment.

Why volunteer via CitySA?

Accessing volunteering through the SAs Volunteering HUB ensures that you are getting involved in an opportunity that will be relevant, rewarding and safe.

The SA follows good practice to ensure that our volunteers will have all that they need for successful volunteering. Each volunteer will have access to the following:

  • Tailored adverts for volunteering opportunities

  • Volunteer Handbook, which also includes a Volunteer Wellbeing Guide

  • Appropriate induction and training for your volunteering opportunity

  • Additional workshops and training opportunities throughout the year

  • Ongoing support from our Volunteer Development Officer for all your volunteering needs

Using the Volunteer Hub, you will be automatically part of the Volunteer Reward scheme that recognises the efforts you demonstrate as you progress through your volunteer experience. You will be able to download a record of your hours and skills logged, which is a great way to demonstrate what you have gained through your volunteering.

Sound good? Here are your next steps:

Sign up for a profile on our Volunteer Hub to get started with searching and registering your interest for a wide variety of volunteering opportunities.

Get in touch with our team- Our Volunteer Development Officer is available to chat to students about volunteering. There’s no commitment if you just want to get in touch with any questions.

Join our Student Volunteers Forum to get to know other student volunteers at the College and learn about the different projects you can get involved with.

If you have your own idea about a volunteering opportunity that you would like to engage with, or think other students would also like to engage with, please get in touch with our team and we can chat about how we might be able to support you with this.
