International Women's Day

International Women's Day aims to highlight the importance of women in our history and to celebrate their often unseen contributions to culture and society. Institutions, museums and organisations celebrate throughout the month of March to raise awareness of the achievements of women that we all benefitted from.

Get involved

This year students on our BA Contemporary Art Practice are working on a research project to create a digital resource that all staff and students will be able to access to find out more about some of these remarkable women.

We would like to invite all staff and students to contribute, by nominating a woman from history (sorry not our much loved mums, sisters, aunts, lecturers) to be part of this digital book.

We are looking gor you to include a woman from history, and if you can't think of a name, just let us know which specialist area or discipline you would like to be represented e.g first woman to fly a jumbo jet!!!! (Beverley Burns btw).

We will be working on this project throughout March - Women's History Month and will look out for your responses to add them to our growing sheet.

By the end of March we will have women from history to represent all faculty areas at the college and help us all learn a bit more about the women who have influence our studies and lives. The digital book will be available as a library link which we will circulate at the end of March. We hope this digital reference book will keep growing to support students in their studies.
