Raising Awareness Against Unfairness!
Hey! I’m Natalia, a first year HND creative printmaking student.
My passions include Art, Yoga, and Hiking in the beautiful Scottish Highlands.
This year I have been a class rep, listening to all my classmates and trying to put their interests first and relay their concerns to staff and I would like to do this for more people and make more effective changes. I also care about human rights and participated in solidarity with the All-Poland Women's Strike here in Scotland in October 2020 by demonstrating in Edinburgh to raise awareness.
My goals include listening to students and putting their needs first to help improve their college experience! I think tools like social media polls to highlight what students think are important or need addressing could be used as well as 1 to 1 conversations.
As a first-generation immigrant I understand the difficulty of speaking English as a second language, and I would like to help our diverse student community to express themselves freely.
It is important to feel safe and supported at college and have space to talk about problems and get help and support. College should be a safe space to escape abusive homes, I would like to give victims help and share awareness. I want to create calm zones around college where students can relax or getaway for a couple minutes when they experience a panic attack for example. Lockdown and covid made mental health even worse and our students need social support more than ever.
