You matter, the same as everyone else.
Hi, my name is Erin McCluskey, I’m profoundly deaf, use British Sign Language to communicate and I’m currently studying HNC Social Science!
I’m running for VP Diversity and Wellbeing position, because I believe my passion for equality and my experience make me an ideal candidate for this position. I am a Member of the Scottish Youth Parliament, a trustee of both the West Scotland Deaf Children Society and British Deaf Association Youth, a Young Campaigner for National Deaf Children Society and a Young Advisor for British Deaf Association. I am committed to representing young people and ensuring their voices are heard on local and national levels. I’m very passionate about ensuring the human rights of diverse groups are being met and discrimination challenged, and also in promotion of positive mental health and physical health!
Within this role, I would aim to help shape and promote City of Glasgow College as a safe place for all, preventing and challenging prejudice if it arises. I aim to work with both students and SA staff to encourage positive lifestyle choices, working with various organisations to promote and support the best outcome for all the students at City of Glasgow College.
If successful, I will work to promote awareness of underrepresented groups such as ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+, and disabled people by working with people directly from those groups to ensure their challenges and needs are understood and heard.
Thank you for reading, I hope I have your vote!
