Emma Ewart

Team work makes the dream work.

I am currently in my 3rd year degree for the BA honours in contemporary art practice, a class representative, and the convener of the Down to earth environmental society with previous experience running a charity committee. I have been committed to providing Down to Earth members with a range of opportunities during lockdown from our funded face mask campaign to guest speakers from Climate Psychology Alliance, Woodlands Community, Extinction Rebellion, and our next guest speaker from Remode a sustainable fashion/ textile business and programme.

I am working in partnership with the Student Engagement Team on my current funded activity, a digital ‘environmental zine’, it is like a small magazine and creative challenge with the focus to come as you are and express how you feel about various environmental issues such as the food industry and fashion. Photography students are using my environmental brief to create a digitalised platform that will be showcased on the college website.

As a Vice President for Societies and Activities, I intend on collaborating with all the societies, such as the Debate Team, LGBTQ +, City Explorers, E-Sports, and the Disabled Student Network, as I want to spread opportunities and I find diversity fundamental in creating a wealth of activities for everyone.

I also want to work on activities and campaigns students’ have asked for this year, like an upcycling station for Model Making courses, a Book Swap, campaigns on affordable nutritious food and meal deals, fun outdoor hill walking and fitness activities and more!
