Your candidate for a creatively connected college community!
My name is Lindsey Stewart.
I’m from Cumbria, England and lived and worked in Asia for over 15 years. I’m now back as a student and in my first year HND Furniture Restoration. I’ve always enjoyed working with people to achieve common goals, and so became a Class Rep this year.
If successfully elected as the VP of Teaching and Learning I would focus on three key themes
CREATIVITY
The pandemic has meant some highly creative ways to continue our studies through online learning. However, I know from other Class Reps that the experience has been mixed. I’d collaborate with all Reps, and Curriculum Heads to share successful methods across all subjects. I’d put in place accessible options so every student can continue to work flexibility in future, in times when they cannot physically attend class.
CONNECTIVITY
From virtual forums, Zoom calls, WhatsApp messages or group meet ups in the college café (remember them?? ?? ), connectivity with fellow students is critical for mental health and wellbeing as well as sharing your learning experience. Whether a part-time evening student or you attend full-time, I want to ensure dedicated times, resources, and community spaces for students to connect and communicate.
CONTINUITY
Many great initiatives established by the current Student Association team are in place, although Covid has disrupted some. By acting on survey feedback and talking directly to students, I would work to continue all initiatives that are having a positive impact on our learning and teaching experience.
