Hello!
I'm Donald Erskine, I'm 25 years old, and I stay 15 miles south of Glasgow on my family's farm.
I recently left full-time employment to pursue my passions for writing; I have just started my HND Practical Journalism course, which has been brilliant. I am a keen music, sport and entertainment fan: so, look out for my reviews and recommendations on City Live! A platform I would also look to use for spreading information and awareness on health issues.
I have been an advocate for Mental Health awareness for as long as I can remember; I personally believe that during the pandemic, not enough is being done to help support everyone’s Mental Health – especially young people. I am a fully trained Mental Health First Aider and would be happy to act as the first line for support as well as look to organise training.
Having been through or helped to deal with most, if not all, health areas covered in the role; I feel I have an excellent understanding of the issues I would be looking to help with.
Our health and wellbeing can so easily be overlooked in our busy lives, my main aims, if elected, would be to:
- Increase the amount and awareness of health and wellbeing support available
- Seek to support and collaborate with charities such as Tiny Changes, SAMH, Venture Scotland & Inspiring Scotland
- Create networking, social and health-based events to create a great, positive community spanning all areas of the college
LET’S MAKE COGC A BETTER PLACE TO BE!
