Volunteer today, Be the change of tomorrow. We rise by lifting others!

Hey there! My name is Beth MacPhee. I am currently in my 3rd year at the college studying HNC Travel & Tourism.

Over the past 3 years I have enhanced my public speaking and communication skills to create a voice for young people through a wide range of opportunities which I am very grateful for. This year I stood as the volunteering officer, working with staff to support students with volunteering opportunities. I was also a peer mentor for ESOL students as well as portraying my passion for Writing by volunteering as a dedicated convenor for the creative writing society. I have also dedicated my spare time by volunteering with event companies to support the production of conference events located around Glasgow. Since January this year I have also been an ambassador and volunteer with Girlguiding Scotland as a group leader and speak out champion, allowing me to speak out for young people’s voices to be heard and to support young people in making a positive impact.

If elected as the volunteering officer, I would aim to:

  • increase the level of engagement for volunteering opportunities by developing campaigns.
  • creating an event calendar of all volunteering events throughout the year where students can talk to organisations.
  • My main goal would be to promote the work of student volunteers by creating a physical volunteering hub where volunteers work can be visual and a place where students can encourage others to make a difference.

The future is in your hands!
