"Be the change you want to see in the world"
My name is Alice O'Connor and I am a 20 year old student here at City of Glasgow College and have been studying here for the past 2 years, I'm a transgender woman and my pronouns are she/her. I come from a background in event first aiding, have been a class representative previously and have a passion for helping others and advocating for those who need help being heard.
Having studied here for a while I can understand the challenges that college life can bring, from a large amount of course work, to balancing a social life, maintaining a good healthy mind it can all be so hard. That is why my main focuses as student president will be on student access to mental health support, essay and study support and ensuring your voices are not only heard, but are taken seriously.
I am a strong willed advocate for peoples rights to be heard and value integrity and love to work as part of a team. I promise to be open, honest and approachable to anyone and strive to help those with issues or listen to ideas others would like to share.
In order to reach my goals I plan to organise a more robust advertisement plan for the College's current mental health support services.
Organise a supported study group to help those that would like to improve their essay structures, learn about referencing as well as develop presentation and communication skills
