PEOPLE WITH ACCESSABILITY ISSUES MUST BE HEARD AT ALL TIMES. IT IS TIME FOR US TO BE HEARD.
Hi there, my name is david butler and I am putting my name forward for the accessibility officer for a few reasons. I have a disability called Aspergers syndrome which now comes under the autism bracket of learning disability and I have been working in the care industry with disability for years and have seen the struggle that people like me face on a day-to-day basis.
I want to bring the voice of disability to the front of everyone’s mind, that includes those who are in authority and those who are not taking people like me seriously. Also I want to make it that all people with accessibility issues have the knowledge to support themselves to get what they are needing and entitled to within society. Now I know this is for the student parliament, but I see this as an opportunity to show what people with a disability are made of and show that accessibility issues should not and will not stand in our way of getting what we need. I want to do this Because I feel that doing this will help me to help others in the same position get what they require in knowledge, support and respect throughout my time as a student whilst hopefully inspiring others to do the same over the next few years.
If you like this manifesto then please vote for me, thank you
