Vote for Polly, and your years at college will be unforgettable.

I’m Polly Vaker, currently HNC Media and Communications student. I’ve been actively involved with the Student Association since my NQ year. I was a member of the media society, convenor of the Multicultural Exchange Society and after a wonderful year of working as Vice President Social and Activities, I’m running for the role of VP Social and Activities again. During the past year, I’ve realised what struggles students have in their social lives and which events and activities they wish to see in our college, so I would like to keep working on this.

If I am a successful candidate, my main goals are

  • Add more activities for City students. This year, I’ve started four new societies, two of which, the Reading Club, and the Multicultural Exchange Society, I initiated based on my own ideas. Next year, I want to start Art and Craft events, ESOL activities, and have more movie nights on campus.
  • Bring more opportunities for Riverside students. I’ve heard a lot of students mentioning a lack of events in the Riverside campus. I hope to improve it by adding society meetings in the campus and organising more fun events.
  • Change the structure of societies and make them more accessible and inclusive. I want to work on the Award system and promotional campaigns. It will give opportunities to the societies to get budget quicker for the events and meetings on and out with campus.
