Are you concerned about climate change? Do you feel voiceless?

I do feel voiceless every single day. Politicians don’t want to cut off the fossil fuels because of the damage that it could cause to the economy. Scientist agree that the damage to the economy will be much worse if the global temperature keeps rising. Yet they are more concerned about the next general election rather than the future of our species.

The reason I want to be President of the Student Association is because I want the college to take action

My ideas:

I want to organise workshops to learn how to recycle, organic composting, plant trees, and sustainable consumption. I want to give free seeds to students.

I want to install a recycling point for clothing & textiles, which will also give the Association a new revenue.

I want to intorduce reusable coffee cups for students, no more needs for Starbucks or Costa cups.

I want to install microwaves in the college to provide the extra option of bringing home cooked food and reducing waste. I also want to introduce free hot water for students.

I want to organise actions to raise awareness about climate change and show the whole city that the students want to take action, and we want to do it now.

This is our future and that of our families. Unless we step up, nothing will change. The college is our institution, and with me as a President, the climate emergency will be taken seriously.
