CitySA held their No Excuse for Abuse event on Tuesday, 29th November, to raise awareness about gender-based violence and its many forms.?
The event saw HNC Acting and Performance students perform emotional productions to an audience of both students and staff. The performances portrayed the many forms of gender-based violence, the different situations where the abuse can occur and shared the varying reactions to the violence. Their performances were excellent, and it was clear how much effort went into each production.
Speaking out about violence against women will help to change people’s opinions. It is vital to inform people of the different forms the abuse can take. This event was a great way to portray the forms of abuse whilst discussing what people can do if they are a victim of gender-based violence.
White Ribbon Scotland opened the event, discussing the support available to those experiencing violence and hosting an interactive activity where the audience had to answer questions about their knowledge about gender-based violence.
Following the drama production, there were stalls from White Ribbon Scotland and Student Services with support and helpful information. CitySA also ran a bystander activity which showed people ways to react when they witness violence against women.?

This event is part of CitySA’s White Ribbon campaign and the 16 Days of Activism. Read on for more details on how you can get involved in?raising awareness for GBV.
