Student Parliament Announcement!

📣 Student Parliament Announcement!

Each year we review our Student Parliament roles and processes to make sure they’re both accessible for students and representative of as many different groups as possible.

As part of that process this year, we worked alongside the National Union of Students and other Scottish Colleges to update our election process.

This year, it was agreed that if only one of our Student Parliament roles was contested, and it had two candidates, both would automatically be elected. This was to make the nominations process as appealing as possible, especially as our Student Parliament Officer roles represent students who already face additional barriers in their learning.

Full Team Elected for 2025-26! 🎉

We’re really excited to announce that this year, all of our Student Parliament roles have been filled!

We had 7 candidates in total across the 6 categories, and our two candidates for Refugee and Asylum-Seeking Students’ Officer agreed to share a role. This means that last night, we were officially able to induct our Parliament team for 2025-26!

Executive Officers Results:

We are excited to announce that the results are as follows:

  • Disabled Students' Officer: Jacob MaGuire

  • LGBTQ+ Students' Officer: Emma Jane Gallacher

  • Mature Students' Officer: Iain McLean

  • Refugee/Asylum Seeking Students' Officer: Dr Thusanli Upendran

  • Refugee/Asylum Seeking Students' Officer: Yevheniia Matsenko
