Privacy Notice – City of Glasgow College Students’ Association 

Background 

This Privacy Notice explains how and why City of Glasgow College’s (“the College”) Students’ Association will collect and use your personal data when we provide you with support during your attendance at the College.  

Personal data we process about you 

We will process your personal data including your name and contact information, information from your student record and we will also process special categories of personal data about you, such as information about your health, religion, ethnicity or sexual orientation, should you share that with us. and information about your memberships of clubs and networks, where it is necessary for us to provide you with support and assistance.  

How we use your personal data 

Your personal data will always be used in accordance with the terms of the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK General Data Protection Regulation. We may process your personal data for the purposes of:  

• Providing effective student support services to you 

• For statistical reporting and data analysis to understand how our services are being used and the wider support needs of the College. We will always anonymise your personal data unless we have your consent to share it for this purpose.  

We process your personal data for the purposes of delivering services to you under a contract and in accordance with our public task.  

Sharing your personal data 

When we support you, we may need to share your personal data with trusted third parties we work with that provide us with support services.   

Some of the partners that we engage with to provide us with applications and systems may require create an account to access an application or system. Where you sign up to create an account those service providers may process your personal data for their own purposes and you should check their privacy policies for further information.  

Storing your personal data  

We retain information, including your personal data, for up to 7-years after you leave the College and in some cases longer, where the law requires or allows us to do so, for example, where we are a party to a legal dispute.
