BIG ideas are an opportunity for you to influence the work of your Students’ Association (SA) as part of our AGM.
Any City SA student member can submit a BIG idea for consideration during the nomination period which is from 18th of April until the 28th of April 2023. Once submitted it will live on our website for students to vote on. The voting period for our AGM is between the 9th and the 11th of May.
All ideas require at least 200 students to have voted on. The Students' Association will be promoting all of the AGM ideas to encourage students to have their say.
If the idea has a majority "yes" vote then it will be included in the Associations plan of work for the next year. The results will then be published and shared on our digital platforms.
Ideally a BIG idea should be a way to improve the student experience for all, if not most, students at City of Glasgow College. They can range between asking the SA to work towards a certain goal, improve the way they work or provide a service or campaign on a certain issue.
Examples of previous approved AGM BIG ideas
To give you an idea about what kind of motions may be suitable here are some examples from previous years:
- Work towards Gender Based Violence Charter
- Set up of a community pantry for students
- Creation of a sensory room for students
- Update the SA space to be more student-friendly
Firstly, get in touch to share your idea with us and we can advise if this is the right platform to turn your idea into a reality. If it turns out that our AGM isn’t right for you we will support you in finding the right place to take it, whether it’s the Class Rep System, Student Parliament or College feedback systems.
