About The Role

FHANS is a partnership between Barnardos, Action for Children, Home-Start and Impact Arts. We support families across North Lanarkshire. We are a service that provides needs-based support, which can include emotional and practical support for the Whole Family with young people and children aged 5 +

Do you enjoy supporting families with children and young people?

By volunteering just a few hours each week, you can transform the lives of children, young people and their parents in your community!

Group volunteers are a welcoming face for families with children attending groups, and they help to:

• encourage parents, children and young people to get involved in activities such as arts & crafts, games, and outdoor fun play

• encourage parents, carers and young people to build confidence and wellbeing

• support after-school workshops, drop-ins and weekend activities based on communities’ needs

We also provide fun indoor and outdoor activities for families over the school holidays, such as spring break, summer term, October week and Christmas.

“FHANS has made an impact on my family's life in various ways. The support we got was amazing. I feel much more confident as a parent and a lot less anxious. I’m highly grateful for the support. It’s reassuring to know that there are a group of people who care about my family and I.” - Family

About the role

Volunteering with us is an excellent and valuable opportunity to help people in your community who are experiencing an eating disorder. You can be an active part in making a significant difference to people’s lives by helping those with an eating disorder and their carers to discuss their feelings and concerns, to provide information and support and to look towards a more positive future.
