Community Partnership

It is clear from talking to our students and staff that learners require support to become global citizens. We therefore must transcend traditional educational models, so that learners are better prepared to address the current challenges facing the world.

The Community and Partnership category looks at ways in which your ideas can help shape and transform our local communities enabling them to become more sustainable and work towards becoming carbon neutral.

Your entry can take many forms. For instance, you could take a topic from the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and raise awareness about that specific issue. Your submission could be in the form of a poem, a zine, a blog, film, art, photographs, infographics, or even an innovative invention. Whatever format your submission takes the most important thing is that it encourages positive environmental/social and sustainable behaviour.

Sustainable Development Goal 15 aims to:

“Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss”.

Nature is critical to our survival: it provides us with our oxygen, regulates our weather patterns, pollinates our crops, and produces our food, feed, and fibre. But it is under increasing stress. Do you have an original idea that can help protect our life on land?

Sustainable Development Goal 8 aims to:

“Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.

The pandemic has had an enormous impact on various industries. One of the main areas hit was hospitality and tourism. Consequently, many people have had to find new work and retrain to adapt to these changes. Have you got an original idea that could help encourage economic growth?

Sustainable Development Goal 6 aims to:

“Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all”.

Is there a way that you can help your curriculum area reduce their water waste? What innovative ways can we encourage folk to use their water resources more sustainably?

Sustainable Development Goal 1 aims to:

“End poverty in all its forms everywhere”.

As a student you will be aware of the financial implications and challenges as you engage in your education. For this category do you have an original idea that you could share to help people meet their financial needs. Examples could include bike sharing to reduce travel costs.
