I’m a 1st year Legal Services student passionate about representing the interests of students and making sure their voices are listened to.
I have previously studied and worked in Human Resources so have great appreciation of the Equality and Diversity issues in today’s world and I am committed to making the college as inclusive and accessible as I can.
In terms of Wellbeing, I know full well how the stresses of life can take their toll on us. As someone who has had to face mental health issues myself I can empathise with how hard it can be to sustain a good level of wellbeing. I personally believe that living a healthy and active lifestyle while practicing mindfulness is an effective way to keep ourselves physically fit and mentally strong.
That is why, if elected, my work on Wellbeing would centre on this belief.
If lucky enough to be elected these are just some of the things I would focus on:
- Standing up to all forms of discrimination and exclusion and tackling the root causes.
- Eliminating sexual harassment on campus.
- Celebrating difference so we can learn from each other and break down misconception and prejudice.
- Improving childcare support.
- Making mindfulness an intrinsic part of college life.
- Building on current mental health services.
- Enabling and supporting students to easily make healthy choices on diet and exercise.
- Student mentoring and buddying systems
